What Should I Be?

I love my job. When I was growing up in Greeley, I often dreamt of the day when I would be a mother and a wife. I also wanted to be a hair dresser because I was darn good at fixing me and Bobbi's hair before school everyday. I had wicked skillz with a curling iron!

At some point, I also wanted to be a pilot, go to the Air Force Academy and become an Air Traffic Controller. I wanted all of these things to please my Dad. Things didn't work out. I get airsick, my grades were average and ATC are stressed out people!

Instead, I married (twice) and thought I would start a family. Of course that didn't happen until I married the RIGHT guy. Thank you Jesus for bring Calvin to me!

In the meantime I had several different jobs.

Auto Parts Delivery Driver
Auto Parts Counterperson and Assistant Manager
Service Manager at a Auto Repair Shop
Cashier in a lumber yard
Data Entry Clerk at a Petroleum Company
Assistant Manager of a Convenience Store/Gas Station
Receptionist at a Collection Agency
Customer Service Representative at a Collection Agency

I really didn't enjoy any of these job. At many of them, I didn't work well with the boss or my co-workers and I was fired from one of them. Wrongfully, but I was let go.

Calvin has indicated to me that he expects me to go back to work when the kids are in kindergarten. I disagree with that timeline. I told him I will return to work when they are in college.

I was a latch key kid and I remember the shenanigans I used to get into when I came home to an empty house. I'm not going to go into any detail because my parents read this and I still don't want them to know.

So....this means. I need to find something that I can do from home. And I don't mean licking envelopes or Medical Transcription.

I am creative. I love to sew and make crafts. My Sister and I came up with the perfect name for my craft company.

Shitty Chic, selling Crappy Collectables.

I did an online search and I couldn't find a store called Shitty Chic. I suppose it is possible that people might not like the name and wouldn't buy anything Shitty from me. I think it has a nice ring to it though.

Here are my skills. What should I be when I grow up?

Great Organizer
Expert Hand Quilter
Crafty
Excellent Cook
Great in the bed
Master Shopper
Republican
I love make-up, shoes and handbags
I like to research stuff
I love my computer
I'm good at World of Warcraft

See, I told you. I am only qualified to be a Domestic Engineer! If you have any ideas for me, please leave them in the comments. If you have some fabulous work from home idea, it had better be good and it better not include exercising or selling tupperware or candles or sex toys. I don't do parties.

  1. What about an errand runner? Put an ad out there and busy people use your services to pick up dry cleaning, grocery shop, take thier dog to the vet/groomer?????

  2. LOL! Shitty Chic.. I am a huge Shabby Chic fan, but I just adore the shitty chic mantra. I wrote a post once about my plethora of crappy jobs as well.

I don't miss them one bit!
