The Canyon is Grand

Linking up with Becca at R We There Yet Mom? for Friday Daydreamin'.

One of the highlights of our trip was seeing The Grand Canyon.

Keith and I had never been there before so it was a first for our entire family!

I was surprised to learn that you have to drive through a national forest to get there.  A two lane highway....through the mountains and your ears will pop.  Bring gum.

There was snow!

We arrived in Tusayan around lunch time and we were super hungry!  The kids saw a sign for pizza and we thought that sounded great! We Cook Pizza and Pasta is a great little spot to stop before you hit the park and they have a salad bar and booze too.

Keith and I were excited to try beer from The Grand Canyon Brewing Company.  They're based out of Williams Arizona and we liked both the Amber Ale and Pilsner very much.

The Canyon is spectacular!

There is lots of walking to do so don't be a dork and wear your wedges.

Bring some water bottles so that you can fill them with the best tasting water you've ever had.  They have a pretty neat book store but the visitor center seems to be under construction.

Further into the park is a store and a restaurant or two.

I'd love to stay in the park sometime or take a train ride there!

Have you ever been to the Grand Canyon?

  1. Looks like a fun day! Never been to the GC but I did fly over it once on the way to California. It was so big and beautiful!

  2. Wow! I was there when I was your kids age but don't remember too much. I'd love to go again as an adult, such a beautiful place!

  3. The Grand Canyon is on my list of places to see!

  4. Never been, but I'd love to!! I've never made it any further west than Colorado. There's so much I haven't seen!

  5. Haven't been yet but the Grand Canyon is definitely on my list. I think it would be fabulous to take a train trip there and then hike down into the canyon.

  6. I have yet to go to the Grand Canyon. Great color in your pictures!

  7. We went way back before we had kids when I had a project in Flagstaff. David flew up for the weekend and we took a train there and back. It was fun.

  8. I've never been but it's on my list of places to visit!

  9. I've never been, but the pics are spectacular.

  10. Wow. I thought we were the last people alive who hadn't been to the Grand Canyon. That's the way my wife makes it sound anyways.
That's a great picture of the canyon. Oh and thanks for the tip on the wedges. That would have been a huge faux pas on my part. :)

  11. I've never been there, but it's definitely on my list of places to visit! I'm inspired to go now.

  12. I have been as a teenager - and even though I acted the bored brat, I thought it was breathtaking!

    Thanks for linking up love!

  13. I have not! When we lived in Durango and in AZ and were closer than we are now, we never went and saw it... one of these days

  14. Seriously breathtaking, isn't it?
I didn't think I would be that awed by it but I was.

  15. Glad you had a great visit! We loved the Grand Canyon and we've visited twice during winter. No matter how many pictures I see, I always find them breathtaking. Beautiful shot!

  16. Of all the traveling I've done, I've never been to the Grand Canyon.

    I'm ashamed.

I've heard it is absolutely a sight to behold though. Words just can't do it justice.

    One day day.

  17. I've been so close so many times, yet I've never been. Lame huh. I so WANT to go though!!

I love you. You are my best friend! Your hair looks fantastic today!
