I have time...

It's amazing how much more time you have when you simplify your life.

I have more time to read blogs, tweets and books....

because it takes me 8 minutes to vacuum the entire apartment and 5 minutes to clean the kitchen.

I have more time to watch TV...

because iKeith is working 16 hour days.

I have more time to play with the kids....

because laundry only takes a couple hours when you have to process it as soon as it's done.

Yesterday the kids told me we were playing a game that required me to lay on Alex's bed because I was *sick* and they were doctors. So...I lay and let them poke and prod me...for a good 30 minutes.

I never had time to play this game before...I was too busy cleaning, doing laundry and thinking about stuff that wasn't getting done.

I have time now....

And I can't help but think that this is perfect timing.  I have exactly one year until Alex goes to Kindergarten.  One year....

My baby will be a big boy soon and I need to make the most of this time.

I have the time.  Funny how something you think is a hardship can turn out to be a blessing you didn't know you needed.

  2. We were a bit leery when we moved to a smaller space, but within days I realized I LOVED IT! I could be in the kitchen and see the children playing in the living room or hear them in their room. Just living in a smaller space automatically made us feel more "together" and I LOVE that!

Oh, and the games you play with your children where you get to lay down? My favorite!

  6. How nice is that... While this house was being built we lived in a one bedroom apartment and I miss being able to clean the whole place in about an hour! lol So much more time then, but I didn't have two messy little ones running around then! :) Enjoy this time... My baby boy starts Kindy next year too and I am ALREADY dreading it!

  9. Thanks Vivienne for posting just what I was going to say. What a time-saver! But really, that's so great that you are taking advantage of the extra time in this way.

  10. Wow! That is a lot of extra time.

Do you think that it would work for me or maybe would I have to loose a few kids first. ;)

  11. This exactly what you and the kids need right now...you will be so grateful for this time when they are teens that think you are the worst mom ever!

  12. I LOVE blessings in disguise! I'm glad you have more time to spend doing the things you love...that's what is most important anyway.

  13. That relates directly to my love of hotel living. Without all of the housework, you feel justified in just sitting down with a book or even taking a NAP. Obviously not when the kids around though.

I've been ignoring the housework and taking them to the pool. It's been wonderful.

  16. I couldn't agree more, life has felt so different with stuff packed up and our house super clean. Wondering how long it's going to last.

One year until kindergarten, you better hold on tight this year is going to fly by!

  17. You know, I'm constantly complaining about how small my kitchen is- but you have a good point! Maybe I don't need a bigger one?? Although it is the dumping ground for a lot of stuff. What I wouldn't give for a real laundry/mud room :)

Enjoy your year with Alex! I can't believe William starts first grade next week and SARAH is starting preschool!!!!
