Friday Daydreamin': Where Do You Love?

My dear friend and role model for PTA President, Becca from R We There Yet Mom, wants to know about the places that you LOVE!

I was going through a box of photos the other day and found family pictures from when I was in junior high school. It was spring break 1985 and we were in Lake Powell!  Twice during my teen years, we visited Lake Powell and rented a houseboat.

I'm obviously not going to make it on the boat.  Can someone give me a hand?  As you can see...eons before blogging was invented, parents took pictures of their kids in a predicament BEFORE helping them.

This must be where I got my love of visiting places in the OFF SEASON because a year later we'd visit Lake Powell during Thanksgiving.  It is cold in November and March but the prices can't be beat!  You also have the entire lake to yourself!

Here we are in a dinghy. It's windy and my hair is getting messed up and those are my actual sunglasses and yes, my pink collar is popped.  The 80's were very good to me.

I have amazing memories from these trips!  I spent hours and hours reading, eating oreos and drinking hot tea.  I also spent hours practicing my cheers because I was going to try out for cheerleading and I wrote GREG AND CONNIE in the sand every chance I got.  Sadly, Greg never loved me back......

  1. A vacation where you sit around reading and eating Oreos sounds like my kind of vacation.

  4. I don't know why but it cracks me up that you're on a dinghy. LOL!
And the name of the boat in the first picture...You're so clever!!
This one time I got beached like a freaking whale trying to get on a boat. So not funny!

  5. I'm diggin' the sunglasses!!!!

How was staying on a house boat? I've enevr done that, but kind of want to! Unless, of course, it means I'll spend all night in the fetal position trying not to throw up.

  6. Well look at you!! I've gotta find some old pictures.. the 80's were the best days!! I wonder if writing your name in the sand is bad luck b/c I did it too and the dude didn't work either.

  7. When I was a kid I wanted desperately to go on a houseboat and drive across the country in an RV. Both sounded like so much fun but I never got to do either. Not sure I realized that you might have to climb onto the back of the boat like that though!

  9. Oh
    Em
    Gee.

Connie...look at YOU! You were rockin' those white sunglasses and popped collar. Oh the 80's. I don't miss those days but all the stores lately think the 80's need to come back. I'm a little scared. I didn't save any of those clothes.

  10. Do you make the cheer-leading squad?? I had a friend that was way into it and always tried to talk me into it but I was a band girl.
    And yes, loving those glasses.

  11. I'm pretty sure that Greg was just intimidated by the popped pink collar. You 80's girls were very hard to approach you know?
Lake Powell looks wonderful though. An entire lake to myself is my idea of paradise. As long as there's stairs to help me get in.

  12. I can't tell from the pic if you have on double scrunched socks...that would really make you an 80's icon...

  15. Girl look at you rocking' the pink Izod with the collar up and the huge white sunglasses! Ahh the 80's, we had such a love hate relationship. I loved while I was living it but hate it as I look back on it through pictures. Me and pleated front jeans pegged at the ankles were not a good combination!

Anyway - I always get a kick out of your old pictures. And I loved your last comment on my own blog. I need to e-mail you. So many thoughts on the Kindergarten year...
