Summer Alphabet Project

My friend J.J. at I'd Rather Be Laughing has a great post right now with Wicked Cool ideas for summer.  I'm taking #6 as a personal challenge and I'd like to challenge you to do this as a family project and make your own video.  Let's make a goal to post them on September 5th...the day before Labor Day.

6.  Take the kids on an alphabet scavenger hunt through your town.  Go through the alphabet and go around town and find places that start with each letter and take a photo.  Then put the photos together in a slide show and watch it later while eating buttery popcorn with Rod Stewart's "Forever Young" playing in the background.

What other fun things are doing with your family this summer?  I need ideas!

  1. Whoop! Yay! I love doing this scavenger hunt. I can't wait to see what you come up with! You also could also video it instead of taking photos....cuz you know...you got skill in that dept. :)

I am so glad that you dig this one!

  2. That is a great idea. I'm sure you've seen the picture collages of letters taken at all kinds of different places. I love those.

  5. Without the Rod Stewart part, this sounds like a winner to me.

But are we looking for letters or places that start with that letter?? Sorry, I'm confused...

  10. The girls and I are doing a park tour this summer. The more parks the better. We have so many great parks around us, I have to be sure to take a photo at each to remember our tour!

  11. We are trying for an "unplugged" summer - no TV. I know I'll have to cave to movies since I love watching movies with the kids! Other than that, my goal is to read EVERY BOOK WE OWN! We own a TON of kids books - purchased mainly by my mom at library book sales - and it will take many, many, many hours to read every one. I'll get rid of the books the kids have outgrown or just don't like. I think I can keep track by reading every book in one section of the bookcases at a time and making sure the kids don't touch the books in between readings! :o)
