Too Much Sadness for One Week.

I can't even think about writing my Christmas update today. I was already struggling with my Christmas Spirit issues and then there has just been so much sadness this week.

Calvin's Great Aunt Rena passed away.  She was an amazing woman and a healer.  She laid hands on him after his near fatal car accident 10 years ago and all of his pain disappeared.  Rest in Peace Rena....

A baby boy the same age as Mallory drowned in his families swimming pool in Florida this week.  There has been lots of drama around this tragedy on twitter.  I feel horribly for this mother and her family.  What I'm going to tell you is....that based on what happened that day....I'm changing my ways.  I will be shutting down my computer more and spending a lot less time on twitter and facebook while my kids are awake.  They deserve to have my undivided attention for most of their day and nothing is more important than their safety and lives.  Rest in Peace Bryson......

I'm heartbroken over the mother that is missing from Salt Lake City.  Susan Powell has been missing for almost two weeks.  It's suspected that her husband is responsible.  He claims he took his children camping after midnight on the day she disappeared.  SERIOUSLY? I don't leave my house in the middle of winter with my kids much less take them camping!  Please pray for Susan Powell.....

Lastly, Calvin's secretary had a baby a month ago and this darling little girl is going in for surgery tomorrow to remove a tennis ball sized tumor from her chest.  Her name is Lexie, please say a prayer for her.

I'm sorry that I don't have happy thoughts today.  The kids just woke up and we're going to have a PJ day and watch Christmas shows and drink Hot Chocolate.  And probably start eating all the candy off from the Gingerbread house we made.

  1. I haven't heard of the drowning, but I hear you on the computer time stuff. I feel guilty over how much I am online as it is. I need to try to limit my time as well.

So sorry about Calvin's aunt. And I hope they find that woman in Utah alive. I have a very Lacy Peterson feeling about this case, from what I have heard on the news. So sad. I hope his secretary's baby recovers quickly, too.

  4. I'm so sorry, Connie. That *is* definitely too much sadness for one to handle all at once. I don't know much about the missing woman, but had heard about it, and that is just awful. What is wrong with people today? Will definitely be praying for Lexie, and I'm so sorry about Aunt Rena. You deserve a day in PJs with candy. Hugs ♥

  5. Oh, and meant to add, that I definitely feel ya on the computer time. Mine has naturally been limited lately with all our Christmas activities and the death of my laptop. And you know what, it's good! More time for the babies is always a good thing.

  12. Oh Connie - I am so sorry to hear all of those things! I can't imagine losing any of my children - I don't think I would survive. It does make you realize what is important and that is the ones you love. I am praying for the young mom too. I hope they find her.

I hope you had a good day snuggling with your cute kids.

    ((hugs))

  16. So much sadness and tragedy. I hope that your heart is able to heal. I am with you on the amount of time on the computer with the kiddos...exactly why I am taking the needed break! And when Im back any computer time will be when my oldest is at school and youngest is napping or when they go to bed at night...which is what I do now anyway.

  18. I'm so sorry for all the sadness and loss you have been surrounded with recently. It really does make us hug our kids a little tighter and realize what is really important.

I'm cutting back on my computer time as well. Too easy to sit down for ten minutes and have it turn in to an hour.

  20. Oh Connie, sorry there is so much sadness floating around!

I'm trying to sit back and enjoy my children more too, instead of being sucked into my computer. I read a quote recently that said to spend most of your attention on the one's who will cry hardest at your funeral.

BUT every girl needs a hobby and I'm passing on one of those award thingies to you, because your vlogs always makes me smile.

  21. Oh my goodness, this is so sad!! I'm guessing the mom was on the computer or something based on the way you said that? How awful!

So sorry for his aunt. I hope and pray that you all find comfort during this time.

Hope you had a great time snuggling with the kiddos.

By the way, I LOVE your new header!! So adorable!

  22. Sounds like hot chocolate and pjs are in order...

And I just caught up on a month of your blog! I've been ignoring my reader for weeks as I've worked on those giveaways. Missed you!

  23. My husband's Aunt Rene passed away at almost the same time. It's sad to lose relatives over the holidays.

I am HORRIFIED over the whole drowning incident and all the attendant nastiness that has been going on over on Twitter. I have hardly been over there at all and this is the first time I've ever seriously considered shutting down my blog. The viciousness that is simmering on that community is pretty scary stuff. When women get nasty, they get REALLY nasty.

A lot of sadness seems to be happening this year, I don't blame you for being upset. Like you, I'm just trying to focus on the positive and enjoy my family time.
