Why being a Mean Girl can bite you in the Butt

NaBloPoMo...Day 12.

Operation: Get Your @SS Ready...Day 4.

I'm going to take advantage of Mama Kat's writing prompts again this week because I'm still afraid of running out of material by the end of the month.  And my brain is feeling kind of mushy....perhaps because I'm not eating enough salmon.  I looked at the choices and I knew this one was for me:

Tell a story about a moment in time when you were so happy you were you and not someone else in the room.

In elementary school...there was a girl that picked on me. We both walked home in the same direction and I always made sure to walk on the North side of the street because she favored the South side.

Most of her verbal attacks on me where made in the restroom (I think I stopped peeing at school around this time) but sometimes she would be jacking around on the way home and I would catch up with her and her friend. They would start yelling stuff at me from across the street and I would walk as fast as I could to get away from them.

After a few years, she moved on to Middle School and I didn't see her again until Jr. High. The first day of third semester, I sat down in my seat for bookkeeping class and I saw her a few rows ahead of me. I always avoided her gaze and it didn't appear that she remembered me so I was so relived.

One day, she walked into class with a jacket tied around her waist and she was crying. I overheard her tell a classmate that she had gotten her period and her WHITE PANTS were stained....and her mother wouldn't come get her. She had to finish out the day with bloody pants.

I was soooo glad that I wasn't her that day and vowed to NEVER wear white pants. EVER.

Karma's a bitch my friends.....

  2. Visiting from Mama Kats...

Oh My Goodness ... this is probably the single worst thing that can happen to a girl at school. I love that her meanness came around and bit her years later and you got to witness it.

  3. I wonder if she even remembers being mean to other kids...bullies so often forget all of that. But I bet she remembers the white pants catastrophe...

  6. How awful. I wouldn't wish that upon anyone. But . . . sometimes what goes around comes around. I am shocked her mom wouldn't come to get her!

  7. I see I wasn't the first to think "karma." lol

In first grade, I always used to end up sitting across the lunch table from a second grade girl who would spend the entire lunch time calling me "the ugly duckling" and getting all of her friends involved. (Not to be mean, but she wasn't exactly a beauty queen.)

Ironically, we ended up becoming friends the next year ... somehow.

  9. Aaahhh! sounds like the same kind of satisfaction you get when the police pull over the crazy driver who weaves in and out of traffic, going 95 MPH! :)

  10. I would have been mortified if that had happened to me! What goes around comes around :)

  11. That's awful! That happened to a girl when I was in middle school too. BUT, she didn't know, and people pointed it out to her during the middle of lunch. EVERYONE was staring at her.

Awful that her mother wouldn't come pick her up.

And although I do feel bad, what goes around, comes around.

  13. Aww, that's too bad for her. I'd say the bitch had it coming, lol. Thank God white pants weren't "in" when I was in jr high and high school, BUT my cheerleading uniform was white, so I knew the fear.

  15. My first response was the same as Jennifer's - "Karma's a Bitch" My second thought was what was wrong with that girl's mama?

I am so impressed with your taking on writing prompts like this. You already are a terrific writer...how great are you going to be with all this practice?

  17. That actually happens to people? In real life? Crazy. I was always afraid of that happening to me in high school but I never even knew anyone who was that unlucky. Guess I never knew anyone that mean before:)

  18. That is sad, although it sounds like she kind of deserved it. I had something like that happen to me in middle school. What a horrible time in life - ack I hate even thinking about 7th grade!

    XOXO

  22. I was totally picked on all of grade 8 so I feel ya sister.

I seriously can't believe that her mother didn't come to pick her up. It just goes to show that she was fighting her own battles. She had a crap ass Mom that didn't teach her kindness. So it really wasn't about you anyway. She just learned it at home.
