It's Not Fall Til You Visit The Pumpkin Patch

Last week we went to the Hills Harvest Pumpkin Patch in Thornton.

They have a lovely little field that you can trapse through looking for the perfect pumpkin, or you can just jump out of your vehicle and chose from a nice assortment of pumpkins.  They also have a spot for a photo opp.

For some reason...my kids were shy and wouldn't look me in the eye.  I think it had something to do with the smiling scarecrow with the price tag still attached.

We traveled back in time to see what Mallory would look like in 1977.

I made the yummiest Corn Chowder over the weekend...here's the recipe!

Hill Harvest is one of the nearest pumpkin patches to the city of Denver. I researched many of them and if you don't want to drive a long ways...this is your best bet. They also have free hay rides Friday-Sunday, and have a little store with lot of other products such as honey, green chili, salsa and veggies. They had a nice assortment of apples and buckets of pie cherries.

  2. Agreed! Although, I'm having a hard time with the warm weather! I need it to get cold already, so that I can really get into the FALL spirit. ; )

  6. Looks like so much fun!! I think we are going to ours this weekend. It was near 90 degrees this weekend so we weren't in a real pumpkin patchy state of mind. LOL

  7. I can't believe it is still in the 90's in some parts of the country!

  8. Did your son say "these are for my work?" at the end of the last video?

We just went to our pumpkin patch with Hannah's preschool and are planning to go again this weekend with the family.

  9. You're right! And Fall officially starts for us this week. We have a trip planned too, either tomorrow or Wednesday. I can't wait! Silly, but I seriously look forward to the outing all year. Looks like you had a lot of fun! And lol about the time machine trip back to '77 ;)

  10. This reminds me that I need to take the kids SOON. I hate when we wait 'til the last minute and there are only moldy or misshapen pumpkins left. :) I discriminate against weird looking pumpkins.
Last year we went to this cool place, but it was, like, a zillion miles away. And they had some awesome stuff, like candy apples and stuff...but it was SO stinkin' expensive!

  14. It is something we do not see much here in Australia and I wish we did. Our haloween falls in Spring... Maybe that is the reason haloween is not a big thing here...?

  16. Oh, I'm with MiMi. Justw rote a comment on a friend's blog about having to buy a rectangular pumpkin with one totally flat side AND a broken stem. Got. To. Get. to a pumpkin patch pronto! (A new tongue twister). I never get shots of my daughter looking at me either -- I seem to always have her looking into the sun.
