The Year Ahead...February

I'm having a heck of a time with my resolutions. So I decided that the best plan of action is to make monthly goals. Looking back on what some of my original goals were....I thought I would make some baby steps. The following goals are for the remainder of February which really isn't very much time...only 12 days.

Reading: I will read The Yoga Mamas book that I have had sitting on my desk for the last three months. I have a stack of books that I want to read so I have to get busy on this reading for pleasure thing. GOAL: Finish Book!

Weight Loss: I will start exercising again! I started this yesterday and I found I had much more energy and was much more productive after I got that workout in. There will be no days off. When I take a day off...I don't start up again. Bad Connie! We are going to start TTC (trying to conceive) in three months and I would like to lose 25 pounds by then. By the way, I also quit quitting Mountain Dew again. I tried Diet Dew and I couldn't Dew it. It is gross. I love Mountain Dew! I will just work out harder to burn those calories. Don't look at me like that. I will! GOAL: lose 4 pounds by the end of the month.

Cooking Class: I don't have the time or money for cooking classes right now but what I AM going to do is keep trying some new recipes and I am going to research a cooking class to save up for my birthday present to myself.

Plant a garden with the kids: I am going to start my garden plan...by purchasing a notebook to make my plan in. I am going to plant a bunch of stuff this year to try to cut down on our grocery bill and put that extra money into savings accounts for the kids to pay their future taxes with. GOAL: Buy notebook

Dance like Beyonce: I have abandoned this goal. I can not dance like Beyonce. No amount of wine has helped me achieve this goal. GOAL: Stop making a fool of myself!

Make more whoopee: I have moved back into our marital bed. Me and my feather bed. I am sleeping much better and we are making more whoopee. GOAL: 3 times before the end of the month.

How are you doing on your resolutions?

  1. "Dance like Beyonce" *snort*

I don't know why I loved that one so much. Probably bc I dance more like Elaine from Seinfeld!

  2. It's important to have goals - but just as important to have limits. Kudos to you for reaching for the stars (buying a notebook) but also keeping it real (giving up on Beyonce dancing dreams).

Maybe a new recurring theme here? Progress reports on 2009 resolutions?

  3. I love that you broke your resolutions into monthly goals :) Such a good idea...it makes them seem more attainable :) I think it is great that you got real about some of the resolutions and got rid of them or changed them up. I did that with one of mine already (taking a new picture every day...I got to day 20) but should probably go back and change a few more ;) No need to add stress to my life :)

  5. Great resolutions Connie!!! I am horrible at resolutions and try not to let myself down by making them. I am slowly working toward being more organized, healthier and a better mom/wife...

    Good luck with everything!!!

  6. Technically, I didn't make any resolutions, but I "thought" about doing some. Yeah, didn't really happen.

I tried to drink Diet Dr Pepper and that lasted about a week, now back to original Dr. P.
I thought about exercising, but I sat down until the thought passed.

  7. Stopping by from SITS.

I have kept most of mine so far. Trying to. It is hard sometimes, but well worth it in the end.

btw, it was to excersize more and cook healthier foods for dh and I, I always make sure that the kiddos eat healthy, but slack a little on us.

  8. I hate to see a girl give up on a goal. "Dance Like Beyonce"? You're clearly not drinking enough wine, WITH the right person. That would be me, Sister. We need some wine, music, a mirror, and comfy pajamas. We'll get 'er done. AND teach you to ski... Don't give up!

  9. Love that you're updating us on your resolutions.

I agree with another commenter who wondered outloud if "resolution follow ups" should be a recurring theme on your blog.

    We could post our updates!

Don't let C-raig talk with Keith. I don't C-raig getting any ideas about what I should be doing as his wife.

Hey, I've lost 10 lbs since 12/30/08! We can do this!

  10. I am going to make this a monthly thingy! It is the only way I will get anything done and I will have all of you...MY FRIENDS to be accountable to.

Chrisy! I am totally going to have you teach me to ski! That is the end goal of the weight loss....but if I manage to get pregnant...it might have to wait until NEXT winter. And YES! We have to get together...soon!
