I had a dream the other night that I was standing on a mountain top.  The view was incredible and there was a cool breeze blowing.  I closed my eyes and just took in big gulps of fresh air.

When I opened my eyes I saw some members of my family just a few feet away.  I started to step forward but the ground began to crack in front of me.  I called to them to step forward, to come closer to me but they just stepped back...further and further away.

Soon the crack became so thick and the wind began to blow and my yells for them to save themselves were drowned out.

The earth dropped away and I screamed!

They were gone.

I looked behind me and my husband and children were there. They held their arms out and embraced me in a hug.  We held each other tight and my husband whispered in my ear...I'm here for you.  I'll stand with you.

This morning I heard this song.

You feel like a candle in a hurricane
Just like a picture with a broken frame
Alone and helpless
Like you've lost your fight
But you'll be alright, you'll be alright

Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you're made of
You might bend, till you break
Cause its all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you've had enough
You get mad you get strong
Wipe your hands shake it off
Then you Stand, Then you stand
Life's like a novel
With the end ripped out
The edge of a canyon
With only one way down
Take what you're given before its gone
Start holding on, keep holding on

Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you're made of
You might bend till you break
Cause it's all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you've had enough
You get mad, you get strong
Wipe your hands, shake it off
Then you stand, then you stand

Everytime you get up
And get back in the race
One more small piece of you
Starts to fall into place

  1. You've got people that love you, and that's what's important.

And Stand is a wonderful song, too.

  2. That was a very powerful dream. I can empathize with you, since my husband has been very recently "excommunicated" from his family. It's not easy... we're standing on our side of the crack too, alone, I believe that accepting where you are is half the battle. Keep your head held high, and pray for peace. I love you too!!

  3. What the...? You have deep, meaningful dreams. Beats my "scared shitless by a penguin" dream I had the other night.

  4. I love that song! Rascal Flatts is one of my favorites. I think it's great that you are able to remember your dreams... I have hard time remembering what happens in my waking hours let alone while I'm sleeping. I wish I could though because they say you can use your dreams to help you solve problems your facing.

  5. That is a fabulous song. I have goosebumps! Your family is who you make it, and you have a great family.

  6. That was just beautiful! Love that song

  7. Isn't it great to know that we are always going to have to have someone to stand with us.

  8. Such a terrifying sensation of having to watch family fall - so glad those most important to you were there!

I love you. You are my best friend! Your hair looks fantastic today!
