crunching, crinkling autumn leaves |
This weekend we went to Golden Colorado to find a couple letterboxes. For a several weeks now...we were supposed to go up into the mountains to look at the fall colors and ride a train, but our plans kept falling through.
Turns out we only needed to drive for 10 minutes to find some amazing fall color and we discovered a really great walking path along Clear Creek.
Letterboxing is really helping us rediscovered the town that we love so much. We're so happy to be home!
Leaves by Elsie N. Brady
How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.
At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow.

Content to sleep, their work well done,

Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow.

Gorgeous pics! I would LOVE to see some fall color. It's supposed to hit 90 today. : (
ReplyDeleteI too, love the pics! Glad you had a fun time with your family and didn't have to go far to do it! : )
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures Connie!
ReplyDeleteOkay, so how weird is it that all I can think of is that beer commercial that they say, "Straight from the cool water springs of Golden Colorado..." or something like that? It is, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the coors reference. So funny. I wish our leaves here changed colors. They just go from green to dead.
ReplyDeleteHahahahaahaaaaaaaaa!!! LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous fall foliage!! We went out leaf hunting this weekend and found some beautiful leaves of all different shades and colors. We are having the most mild fall. I think the colors will be around for a while here.
ReplyDeleteAm I going to sound like a complete idiot if I ask what Letterboxing is??
I love fall and all of the leaves changing color. Colorado looks so beautiful. I have only driven through once and never got to visit anything. I have always wanted to come in the winter with all the snow!
ReplyDeleteOh and you are one FABULOUS 40 yr. old! :)
Beautiful leaves, funny Coors connection. Your shots look better than their background. Maybe start up a small home brew project and use your photos on your label? You've got the time, right?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. We love any excuse to explore around us. Lately, it's been my husband's obsession with lake property. A pipe dream, but looking is fun.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors - geocaching helped us do the same thing. It's so much fun to just get out and explore.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty poem! I am glad you are rediscovering your city in such a fun and beautiful way! ;)
