Puss in Box
The other day, I was going through Alex's closet, taking out clothes that don't fit anymore and making room for more. I found a forgotten box of beanie babies and pulled it off the shelf. When we moved to Utah, I put them up there until Alex was older. I opened it up and it was a bunch of kitties.
Fun, I thought. The kids will love these!
Keith came home that night and began to freak out.
Keith: Why are my kitties all over the floor!
Me: Those are your kitties? I just found them in Alex's closet. I didn't know where they came from.
Keith: {counting kitties} I had them in my apartment and one of them is missing. A white one. Where is my white kitty!
Me: {still confused} It has to be here somewhere. Is it a special kitty?
Keith: No, I just....I had them displayed in my apartment.
Me: You did? I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have dated you if you had kitties displayed in your apartment. You must have hid them before I came over everytime. I mean the action figure displays were almost a deal breaker.....
Keith: My Mom gave them to me when she gave up on me having kids. Let the kids have them...but I'm keeping the black one for myself. {Keith affectionately pets ZIP the Kitten.}
This is what Keith looked like when I met him....
We will be celebrating our 4 year anniversary next week. I am still amazed at the stuff I find out about my husband that cracks me up! And then I fall in love with him all over again!

You always put a smile on my face with your posts!
ReplyDeleteBAHA That made me laugh out loud too funny!
ReplyDeleteWho loves kitty?! He needs to rename Zip, Hobbs. Then it will be Calvin and Hobbs!!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I keep a box of beanies in my daughter's closet as well, I only pull them out occasionally to let her play with them, so then they are more special. Not valuable, out of sight, more special.
ReplyDeleteThat is funny!!
ReplyDeleteThis was so funny - I made my husband read it.
ReplyDelete-Kate
Now THAT was funny. Sweet that he has sentimental value for them like that, though.
ReplyDeleteOMG. I am laughing so hard in a place that is really inappropriate for laughing this hard! That is so great.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for linking!
Can I repost this next Wednesday? Email me if you are interested. I loved it.
That is great. I can see your confusion over the cats! Glad I found you through Holly.
ReplyDeleteSo glad Holly pointed me to this post. Love it! Can I assume they all had the original tags on them?
ReplyDeleteBTW- Men with action figures are HOT.
This is great.. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is SO funny. I just found your blog via June Cleaver Nirvana and had to say how classic this story is. And your photo of the 40 yr old virgin...I was dying. Looking forward to reading more of you :)
ReplyDeleteBless him! That was funny!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from SITS! Oh how funny, this post just made my day. Funny yes, but I still wish my husband was so sensitive!
ReplyDeleteFunny the things men sometimes collect that we don't think of as "manly." I think it's very cute he loves his little kitties so. My husband has a "Little House on the Prairie" doll collection and some others as well. We both like stuffed animals and have them all over our house!
ReplyDeleteFirst time visitor here from SITS.
Popping over from SITs! love the SNAGish husband that you have. Bean there, done that!
ReplyDeleteHe he.... I found out last night that my husband had a flower press when he was a boy. And he used to do quilting!!
ReplyDeleteHow funny about the box of kitties though!
Stopping by from SITS.

Oh, that is too sweet!
ReplyDelete"The action figure displays were almost a deal breaker" - when I met my hubs he had a poster sized cutaway diagram/map of the Starship Enterprise hanging above his bed. I married him anyway.
So funny! I love how possessive he was over it. Isn't the complexity of husbands intriguing?
ReplyDeleteOver from SITS. Ok, I have to admit the puss collection would have been a HUGE turnoff to me too. I would have run the other way like my hair was on fire. Mercy.
ReplyDeleteOh well, at least he only wanted one to pet -- uh, I guess that is better than all of them. :-/
Ha.

ReplyDeletefrom SITS
ReplyDeleteLove it! I once worked with a guy (in his 30s) who loved Beanie Babies and was always up on the latest ones to add to the collection.
I think I'm most amazed that he knew that, not only was one kittie missing, he knew which one it was! Wow! I'm impressed. Now I want to know more about the action figures!
ReplyDeleteAhahaha! Your hubby would love my daughter's room ... 500+ beanies still on a shelf high on the wall all around the room.
