Today I wanted to talk about what I'm going to read this summer. The last few books I've read have been Self Improvement Books and I'm ready to just lose myself in a few books while drinking iced tea on my patio! I'd love to see all of you do a similar post so that we can all find new books to read. And friend me on Good Reads if you haven't already!
Good Enough to Eat
I'm obsessed with Kate and Pippa Middleton so I will be reading book The American Heiress: A Novel by Daisy Goodwin
Next is Burnt Mountain by Anne Rivers Siddons
And lastly....because I'd love to escape to a beach this summer (but it's not going to happen) I'll be reading On Folly Beach by Karen White
Edited to Add: I finished Good Enough to Eat in 24 hours...couldn't put it down! So I picked up a new read at Target just based on the cover and the blurb on the back. It's The Summer We Came to Life by Deborah Cloyed
Edited July 4th: I've added another book to my list! I kept seeing friends on Good Reads reading this or putting it on their TO-READ list so when I was out at a REAL book store on Friday night...I saw it and I bought it. Paid WAY too much for it...but I had to have it. The book is Don't Breathe a Word: A Novel
What are you reading this summer?
I definitely need to put the American Heiress one on my list. I love me some royal wedding biz...especially when commoners wed royals, there is something so romatic about that.
ReplyDeleteI'll get right on that after my next smutty fan fic read. ;)
I have not even read a book this year. Thats bad.
ReplyDeleteEESH!
I have to read that first one for sure!
ReplyDeleteI'll put Love Bites on my to do list because the hubs and I adore the Big Bang Theory!!
ReplyDeleteI'm putting all of these books on my list! I'm on Good Reads, are we friends yet? I have like 100 books on FB and I need to move em over!
ReplyDeleteWhat's Love Bites??
Just all of those to my summer read list!!! Thanks Connie! xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh, are we talking about books? I came over to talk about Tosh.0. I laugh out loud the whole time it's on. Don't tell, though. I am way to old and goody-goody to be watching that stuff.
ReplyDelete*summer read - US Magazine.
i missed Love Bites...thanks for the link!! we love Big Bang too...so funny!!
ReplyDeletethose all look like good reads.
I too find the Middletons intriguing. I'll have to check out the American Heiress.
ReplyDeleteI need some suggestions, I've got two trips planned for this summer which means plane time - and reading time! I know I will be passing some time with some smutty magazines. Does that count?
ReplyDeleteThat first novel sounds similar to a book I once read called Jemima J by Jane Greene. Have you read that one? I believe it was a pretty popular book a few years back!
ReplyDeleteThey all look wonderful!! Thanks for posting this. I am slowly making my way through a pile of self-help books but do need an escape right about now. I will do some hunting and post something similar soon :) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to add all the books on your list to mine!
ReplyDeleteI just finished Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, so I'm going to read the other 2 books in that series.
I also have Water for Elephants on my list.
At the library yesterday, I picked up Room by Emma Donoghue, Widow for a Year by John Irving and some book (can't remember the title) by Philippa Gregory. I haven't read any of her stuff sinve I read The Other Boleyn Girl a few summers ago, but it was a guilty pleasure, so I thought I'd try another one by her.
OH! I also read Little Bee by Chris Cleave last week. It's alright...
Currently reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks because I'm a sucker for medical biography type stuff.
ReplyDeleteOn the docket, however, is What's Up Down There by Lissa Rankin, MD (subtitled: Questions You'd Only Ask Your Gynecologist If She Was Your Best Friend); The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo; and A Visit from the Goon Squad.
I just ordered Good Enough to Eat based on your rec. And (sadly) it was 97 cents plus shipping on Amazon, so it was cheaper to get the real book than the kindle edition. Next on my to read list is The Weird Sisters and Little Girls Can Be Mean. They sound related, but first is fiction and second non-fiction.
