Happy New Year everyone! I'm excited to get started on my monthly plan for my family. I'm sure that 2010 will be an awesome year because of my attempt at being intentional and present.
Much of my inspiration comes from a website called Simple Mom. If you don't know about this fabulous resource then I recommend you spend some time there this weekend. I'm planning to participate in the Simple Living Book Club that's starting on January 25th. The first book is The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families and I think that will be really helpful with my plan. Here is the link to the book club. Here are a couple other links to get you started this month. 10 Questions to encourage engaged parenting and 20 questions for New Year's Eve Reflection.
Have a great day!

EDITED: I completely forgot the last part of my monthly plan. GRATITUDE. This month, I'm so very grateful for my husband's job. As happens every year, he has already started complaining about the *bills* and money that was spent; even though we cut back. I am so thankful that we are employed and were able to celebrate Christmas with gifts and good food. Calvin's work project is still uncertain and I'm still worried about the future but I've decided to just be grateful for what we have now and plan for the future. One way I'll be doing this is by accepting Erin's Challenge of spending less than $100 on groceries each week. Run over to The Many Days of the DiCarolis Family and check it out. OH! And she's giving away a book!
I do love this idea and I will post my plans later this weekend. I'd like to be more present in my kids lives too. Away from the computer, Alex!
ReplyDeletelove the family play dates! happy new year

I love this idea and it certainly fits in with my resolutions to focus on the most important things in my life! I've linked up. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat plans Connie! I think weekly date night is such a great thing. I need to get back on a schedule. Great ideas!
ReplyDeleteHope you are doing/feeling well!
XOXO

My hubs and I definitely need a date night soon! We use to do it monthly but havent had hardly any in a few years!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea about the groceries, we have the same plan... I've been doing really well with that by trying to only buy things on sale and using coupons. I can usually save 30-50% on my grocery bill.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to see how you do.
I spend an INSANE amount on groceries for our little family of three!!! It's NUTS!!! I am going to see if I can make this work!
ReplyDeleteWish you were able to attend Blissdom. I would have liked the chance to talk and get to know you more than we did at SITScation.
ReplyDeleteNot sure I can swing BlogHer ... but maybe August?
I like the picture on your header. Have a great week.
I love your plans for January, especially the fact that you are not neglecting YOURSELF!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Connie....I so needed a site like SimpleMom right now. I am so appreciative of you sharing it. Scott and I started doing our 2010 budget and it is our goal to work on being debt free. This site really helps you figure out the way to do it. I also love all of the other ideas on the site and have already ordered the book for the book club. This site will really help me meet my new years resolution of finding BALANCE in my life. Thank you, thank you, Thank you!!!! You are the greatest :)
ReplyDeleteoh and I love your family plan....you've got a lot of great things to look forward to this mont :)
I love this idea! Great plans...it's always good to have a balance. I love the "Focus on the Family" meme! That is definitely something I want to do in 2010...spend good quality time with my family.
ReplyDeleteI followed the link to the Many Days of the DiCarolis Family and read her grocery challenge. I'm following her now too. I would love to save $ on groceries and use the saved money towards a mini-vacay or donate it to charity.
Thanks for posting this!
