Last year, I dropped the ball.
I sent my son to school with a Valentine themed gift bag that I picked up at Target for his Valentine exchange. A few other Moms made the same mistake I did....we were newbies, and we didn't hear the end of it for weeks!
You see...all of the other kids brought elaborately decorated boxes for their valentines. Having a gift bag meant your Mom didn't love you enough to help you decorate a box and that she probably spends her evenings with a box of wine. NOTE: Do not let your kid decorate an old box of wine. I'm all for recycling but that is borderline cray cray.
That day I vowed to come up with the best dang box I could find and that we'd decorate that thing to within an inch of it's life. I present to you.....Classroom Valentine Boxes!
These boxes are from The Container Store ($1.99) and the amazing stick on hearts are from Michaels. I love the boxes because you can cut the slit to accommodate any size valentine and it has a handle!
The other great thing is that they come unfolded so you have a flat surface for decorating and then you can fold it up (and tape the bottom) when you're done.
Those are cute!
ReplyDeleteMy youngest decorated a valentine box in pre school...I still have it!
This on can be used for years!! It's super sturdy.
DeleteThose look great! I love The Container Store, just wish there was one closer (it's like 45 mins away). Great job!
ReplyDeleteI traveled an hour round trip for these. Totally worth it!
DeleteI never knew what a big darn deal Valentine's Day was at schools. Good to know! I love the Valentine's boxes you came up with. Very cute!
ReplyDeleteIt is a huge deal!! You should start collection supplies now for your unborn child's box.
DeleteAw, I remember those days. :D SO cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ricki!
DeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteLove that it's flat while decorating!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a cool Mom. I'm sure last year's faux pas is a distant memory!
ReplyDeleteYou are so creative! I think our kids decorate bags in class. I should find out. lol
ReplyDeleteCUTE! I just saw boxes like this at the dollar store today. I didn't buy any... wonder if I should have? I should ask Amira's teacher. ???
ReplyDeleteThat is really cool and I'm glad the box phenomenon hasn't entered our school district yet. They make their own envelopes at school. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh those are so awesome!! I am supposed to have Alex decorate a cereal box for her valentines--thankfully the told us with plenty of time.
