Super Fan

Did you have a great 4th of July?

We sure did!

I'd been looking forward to this day ever since we made our Summer Fun List because I had been given tickets to the Denver Outlaws lacrosse game.

What?  You didn't know that Denver has a lacrosse team?  I didn't either but I'm here to tell you that they do, they are awesome and you should go to a game yourself!

Sports Authority Field is a pretty amazing and I had never been so close to the field before.  Alex was telling me that he his tummy was tickling himself.  He was so excited!  We were sitting directly across from where iKeith's Bronco Season Tickets are so it was nice to picture where he hangs out during every home game.

Once the game got started....Alex (and maybe iKeith) only had eyes for these girls.  I decided my life will not be complete until I own pom poms and white cowboy boots.

Outlaws Dance Team
I couldn't stop watching the super fan that was dressed in a suit! I texted Aunt Bobbi a picture in hopes that she'd fall in love at first sight and get her skinny butt back to Denver.

The game was very entertaining and easy to keep up with.  The ball is small and they toss it back and forth a lot so you really have to pay attention. It's kind of like hockey on grass.  the Denver Outlaws won 17-13 against the Ohio Machine, and we were super fans ourselves when it was over.

The added benefit of being at this game was that it was one of a few places that was having a fireworks display.  Many of the shows had been cancelled because of the wildfires and fire danger in Colorado.

It was the most amazing fireworks show I've ever seen!  And the music they chose to go along with it was perfect.  My children were awe struck!

This could be our new 4th of July tradition.

Have you ever been to a lacrosse game?

Disclaimer: I was given tickets to the Denver Outlaws game.  I was not asked to blog about it or drink 3 beers at the game.  All opinions and thoughts and headaches are my own.

Movies, Popcorn and Big Wheel Races

A couple weeks ago, our apartment complex put together an outdoor movie night right outside my patio.  I'm told that this is going to be a monthly thing and we couldn't be more excited!

We set up our blanket two hours before show time so that we'd have a good seat and I made multiple bags of popcorn.  We bought candy at the store and drank Cranberry Fresca.  Have you tried this stuff yet?  So good!

When I was at the store picking out popcorn I discovered that Orville has these cool new bags that are perfect for movie night!  The top is a clear plastic and after you rip it off....the bag is it's own bowl!  So handy.

You know how I like to observe people?  Well....I observed my neighbors (who have 4 kids) trying to make baby number 5 right in front of us.  AWKWARD!

For your viewing pleasure.  A short video of my kids being reckless on big wheels.  I have 911 on speed dial.....

I was not compensated for this post about popcorn. I don't even know Orville and he doesn't know me.

Loaf Love at The Denver Zoo

I've told you all before about my lists.  I believe that sending your intentions (or wishes) for your life brings back to you what you want or need.  I didn't think about my Summer Fun List in that way until last week.

Before I hung our list on the wall, I added ZOO.  I don't normally like the Zoo but my kids love it and being the selfless Mother that I am....I added it.

A few days later, I was contacted by a PR firm asking if I'd like to take my family to the Denver Zoo and taste some cheese at the Loaf Love Tour?  She had me at cheese.

Sunday, we were VIP guests of Tillamook Cheese at the Zoo and it was such a fun experience! I have to mention here that my husband (bless his heart) still thinks that you all are my imaginary friends in my computer but now he's starting to understand that his trophy wife is somebody on the internet.

Mallory is just running around calling herself a VIP now.

The weather was perfect....not too hot and although it took us forever to find parking, it really wasn't that crowed.

We loved seeing all of the monkeys (even the ones that were giving each other a massage) and birds and I was thrilled to find a little hut selling Coors Light.  Just like at the ball game....it was the best beer I've ever tasted!  A big Bear smiled at me and made my day.  Keith says he was baring his teeth....not smiling and that he wanted to eat me.

Soon we found ourselves in front of the brand new Toyota Elephant Passage! It is really amazing and so beautiful.

We stopped for lunch at Kamala Cafe just outside of the Elephant Passage Amphitheater.  This is when we learned that there was going to be a show with the largest animal at The Denver Zoo.  His name is Groucho and he weights 11,500 pounds!

He put on a great show and we loved every minute of it!  Even the part when Groucho showed us the aftermath of eating 250 pounds of food a day.

Thank you Tillamook Cheese for a great day at the zoo!

Check here to see if the Loaf Love Tour is coming to your city!

disclaimer: I was provided passes to the zoo and all the cheese i could eat.  Opinions are all mine.

Summer Fun: Belmar Farmers Market

We are so lucky to live near Belmar.

When Keith and I were growing up, there was a mall called Villa Italia.  It was a grand mall at the time and we both spent lots of time there as kids.  It was torn down because of disrepair in 2002 and Belmar was built in it's place.

You wouldn't think an outdoor mall would be a good idea in Colorado because it does get cold in the winter and who wants to walk around outside in the snow.  I'm here to tell you that Coloradans are a tough bunch and we walk around without coats if it's more than 45 degrees.  We'll bitch about the cold....but we'll do it.

So Belmar.....has shops, restaurants, a movie theater, offices, a Super Target and a Whole Foods.  It has more stuff but I don't feel like spilling all of my secrets today.  In the winter it also has ice skating!  How cool is that?

Many years ago, Keith and I would sit in the bar at The Elephant Bar and look up at the condo's for sale.  We were trying unsuccessfully to get pregnant at the time and we decided if being parents wasn't in the cards for us....that we'd move to the condo and be regulars at all of the local bars.

What a sad, sad life that would have been!

Of course, the moment we actually went to look at one of the condos....I wound up pregnant.

Now, we take our children to Belmar all the time.  The Rock Pizza gets most of our money and Dick's Sporting Goods is a fun place to spend some time.  This summer we'll be at the Farmer's Market every Sunday!

2012 Summer Fun List

Wow....I just realized this post marks 1001 posts.  That seems like a significant milestone or that I'm a little chatty.

Yeah....I'm a little chatty.

Tomorrow is the last day of school for Alex!  We are beyond excited to put the alarm clock away and have some fun on his first ever Summer Vacation.  Oh course, Mallory is very excited for school to start.....in 78 days.  Yes, she's keeping track.

Last year, we made a Summer Fun List and the kids loved it so much that I decided to make it one of our family traditions.  You know how I love traditions and making my kids happy so here it is!

NOT Bummer Summer
I did leave a little bit of room at the bottom to add more things as they come up.  Because I love to mark things off from lists.

In other Summer related news....I posted my Summer Reading List on my book blog.

What's on your list of things to do this summer?

Random Thoughts....

Today feels like a random kind of day.

I have all of these thoughts floating around and they need released...like butterflies!

I recently discovered that my husband loves Jersey Girls.  I found out when I was watching The Real Housewives of New Jersey and he sat down and watched intently.  I also found out that he and his brothers' call butter on popcorn...shine.  We've been married almost 8 years and I've never heard him call it that before.

There are only 7 school days left and I can't wait for this year to be over! There are some children in Alex's class that don't treat him very well and he just wants to be friends with everyone but they make it hard.  I'm hopeful that there will be much nicer kids in his class next year.  Keith tells me that there will always be jackholes to deal with.  He says it's human nature.  I said, 'even in a convent?' and he said, 'Yes, even they have predatory lesbians.' I almost peed my pants and now I shall blame everything wrong with the world on predatory lesbians instead of Obama.

Mallory had her last tumbling class yesterday and is mad at me because I had planned to take a activity break for the summer because I have so much fun stuff planned for us.  Keith and I talked it over last night and decided to let her keep going because...what if she is good enough for the Olympics? It could happen.

There is a picture of my ass on Impulsive Addicts blog.

After watching The Bachelorette last night I have made two observations.

1.) I've been married for almost 8 years and there is no way in hell I could write a 7 page letter to my husband.

2.) My husband's new nickname is Chopper.  (he used to fly helicopters)

I am proud to announce that this morning I am being sworn in as the PTA Membership Chairperson.  I know what you're thinking and yes, I might be cray cray.  BUT....I think this will be the perfect job for me and I'm already thinking of ways to blackmail get people to  join the PTA and come to meetings.  It involves suckers.

Have a great Tuesday!

Summer Pen Pals

This sweet little boy is going to miss his friends this summer.

We'll see some of them for playmates at the park but I wanted to have him do something that would surprise his friends and make sure they don't forget him.

I found these cool fold and mail cards at Target last week and I just knew they were perfect!

This way, he can keep in touch with some of this classmates and practice his writing at the same time.

What I'm hoping is that this will encourage his friend to write back to him and they can be summer pen pals!

What You Missed: Unplugged Edition

Internet was intermittent today.  Managed to get a few photos uploaded but the video is still a no go. Going to post this before the web goes down again.

Daddy's Home!

iKeith came home from San Francisco on Friday night and we couldn't be happier! Mallory even broke out into a dance in the middle of the airport. I have the most adorable video of it....but my internet has been wonky since Thursday and I can't upload it. I'm seriously video challenged lately.

Was really happy to have iKeith home since when the pizza guy came to the door Thursday night...Alex told him that Daddy was not home and was in San Fran. I made double sure the doors were locked that night and gave Alex his first scare...about what strangers can do. He informed me that the pizza guy is NOT a stranger...because he brings pizza.

Connie and the Not Bummer Summer

We already completed two items on our list. We got ice cream at Sonic and yesterday we went to Dinosaur Ridge. We'll be doing both things again really soon!

Really Just a Yard Sale with Music

Thursday night I was trying to eat my pizza watch The Crappy Life of the American Teenager when I kept hearing really obnoxious music.  I finally figured out it was coming from just outside my patio and there were people setting up a tarp and hanging clothing from the tree limbs. There was a guy playing some kind of an instrument and then I spied a portable grill. I flipped my lid when I saw people leaning up against my very expensive vehicle! I went out to move my SUV and they had so much stuff set up that it took all my driving skills to get it out of there.  I might have run over a church lady.

When I got back to my apartment....I saw this hanging on my door.

A carnival.....with free used clothes.

When A**holes Attack

Saturday night....I went to bed kind of early because I got ZERO sleep while iKeith was gone.  I had just drifted off when I heard a ton of racket and then I heard Don/Dawn's dog freak out!  I was so out of it that I didn't really know what had happened...but I thought maybe people were drag racing down the street right outside my apartment.

When A**holes Attack

Turns out some jack hole in a street racer decided to do some cookies in the grass out side my patio. (it IS a popular location lately.. Maybe he hates clowns) He tore up the grass and scared the hell out of me and iKeith.  He was going to call the police but figured it was probably a gang member and he didn't want to get involved in any shenanigans.  Mick claims that they just evicted someone and he thinks it might have been them.  Awesome!

I really, really think it's time for us to move.  And Living Social Daily Deals agrees with me.

Get The Door!

So...Thursday, when I was completely without internet and had a migraine on top of it.  I decided I wanted to order a pizza. I haven't called in a pizza order in....about 3 years. I love ordering Domino's online and watching the tracker as they make my pizza.

I called.  And they had my order history! YAY!  So I placed my order for 1 medium half cheese, half ham and 1 medium ham and mushroom.  I order this ALL THE TIME!

They screwed up my order.  They sent me TWO half cheese, half ham pizzas.  Why the hell would I do that? If that's what I wanted....why wouldn't I order ONE cheese and ONE ham?  They also didn't give me the coupon price. I will NEVER call for a pizza again!

And now I don't have to....Domino's just came out with an iPhone app so you don't have to talk to their incompetent employees.

2011 Summer Fun List

Yesterday Tuesday....I was supposed to vlog about what we're doing this summer. I still can't get my video out of my camera and I'm too lazy to re-record it so I thought I would show you what we're going to be doing.

Summer Fun List 2011

I made this sign* with all of our ideas and little boxes so that we can put a sticker up after we complete our summer task! Please notice...Make Sangria is on the list. This is strictly an adult activity and we will not be feeding Sangria to the children.

I even left room at the bottom if we come up with some other ideas. Like...Send Mommy to rehab The Spa.

*Vivienne....I made this with poster board that I had stock piled behind the entertainment center. I was so excited to realize that I was already following one of you tips!

For those of you that emailed me and were upset because you didn't get to see my pretty face yesterday on Tuesday....I give you this.

Disney Princess Deluxe Magic Mirror is available at Toys R Us.  I was not compensated for this post but would gladly paper my walls with this mirror if Disney wants to send me 100 of them.
